QuickShareIt 2.1 Released!

Today we released QuickShareIt 2.1! (You can get it here.)

This new version is a tremendous release for QSI users and we think you’ll all love it. A lot has changed under the hood, but here are the notable items:

New: Added Screenshot shortcut
Fixed: Lots of bug fixes to improve overall stability
Updated: Removed BSD Subsystem Dependencies
Updated: Removed CURL Dependencies
Updated: QSI now takes advantage of 10.5 specific technologies to better performance
Updated: Improved Recent Shares window, you can now right click on an item to bring up the options menu, less clutter.
Updated: Server communication switched to RESTful API

This version also marks the end of our support for the OS X 10.4 Tiger. OS X Tiger users SHOULD NOT upgrade to 2.1 as it is built to work on OS X Leopard Only. 2.0.3 was the last version that we matined for Tiger and we made sure to make QuickShareIt’s new server API backwards compatible for the older versions.

Now that that’s out of the way, let’s talk about the greatest new feature: Quick Screenshots. Once you have QuickShareIt 2.1 installed, pop open the preferences window and look for this at the bottom of the “General” tab:

Check off “Automatically upload” and select “Set Hot Key”.

Choose your “Hot Key”, here’s mine:

Click “OK”, and exit the preference window.

Now, anytime you want to take a screenshot, just do that key combo, and you’ll be presented with a cross-hair. Click and select the portion of the screen that you’d like to upload, and as soon as you let go, your upload will begin.

Just like any other “quick share”, in a few seconds, a URL will be returned to you.

We hope everyone loves this new version and we look forward to your comments!
